Born in Cheshire, England, Angela moved with her family to Los Angeles, California, where her acting career began at just three years old with a role as Paul Newman’s daughter in Somebody Up There Likes Me. By the time she was four, Angela was cast as Linda Williams on The Danny Thomas Show (also known as Make Room for Daddy), a role she would hold for seven years as Danny’s cherished on-screen daughter.
Angela’s career reached new heights when she portrayed Brigitta von Trapp in the iconic The Sound of Music. She later became widely known for her portrayal of Penny Robinson in the groundbreaking sci-fi series Lost in Space. With a career spanning decades, Angela's impressive resume includes countless television appearances, commercials, and films.

In addition to her acting work, Angela co-authored The Sound of Music Family Scrapbook, a heartfelt collection of memorabilia, vintage photos, and personal stories that celebrate the lasting impact of the beloved film. She also collaborated with Lost in Space co-star Bill Mumy on Lost (and Found) in Space 2: Blast Off Into the Expanded Edition, a pictorial memoir brimming with rare images and stories from their time on the show. Together, they co-wrote the fantasy adventure novel On Purpose, which features twenty-seven of Angela's original illustrations and an original soundtrack by Bill.

A passionate artist and photographer, Angela’s work is collected worldwide. She has authored several books on her distinctive approach to hand-painted photography and altered art techniques, including Mixed Emulsions: Altered Art Techniques for Photographic Imagery, In This House: A Collection of Altered Art Imagery and Collage Techniques, and In This Garden: Explorations in Mixed Media Visual Narrative.

Angela’s award-winning coffee table book, Styling the Stars: Lost Treasures from the Twentieth Century Fox Archives, offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood’s golden age, featuring never-before-seen photographs from the Twentieth Century Fox archives. Now available in paperback, the book provides an intimate glimpse into Hollywood history.

In addition to her literary achievements, Angela founded Angela Cartwright Studio, a creative line that features her hand-painted artwork, art.wear clothing and a jewelry collection inspired by symbolic totems. She collaborates with select companies to bring her artistic vision to life, including her
Edelweiss Brown Paper Package Collection with Michael Michaud.

Angela also leads exclusive tours to Salzburg, Austria, with Craftours, where she shares her insights and behind-the-scenes stories from The Sound of Music in the locations where the film was shot.
Married since 1976, Angela raised two children and now enjoys being a grandmother to five. Together with her husband, Steve, she continues to embrace a life full of love, laughter, and boundless creativity.
