Mah Jongg originated in China in the mid-1800s and haws become a beloved game played around the world. Traditional Mah Jongg tiles were hand carved from Bone and Bamboo. Each piece is uniquely detailed.
In the early 1900ss, Bakelite, the first plastic ever invented (19070S became popular fro Mah Jongg sets because of its durability and rich colors. It is highly collectible today.
All the tiles used in this jewelry come from incomplete or broken vintage sets. All pieces are repurposed given a second life as wearable art.
